Five different products hide behind the same adjective
“Free” on the current result pages describes at least five things: opening the site, creating a character, sending text, using a basic model, or receiving a monthly credit allowance. Those are not interchangeable. A free character builder can still lock chat. Unlimited text can still exclude images, voice, memory, or the model shown in an ad.
Couple.me says visitors can create a girlfriend and try it free. Nastia advertises unlimited messages and no signup. Kupid says free to start and no card required. CrushOn’s snippet describes unlimited chats on free models plus monthly credits. Each sentence answers a different question. None tells you the full lifetime cost of an ongoing relationship.

Free entry is useful; free attachment is the risk
A demo is valuable when you use it deliberately. You can test whether the bot follows a boundary, remembers a detail inside the session, and writes in a tone you like. The risk begins when a vivid opening makes you assume continuity that the product never promised. Before sharing intimate details, refresh the page, inspect account requirements, and look for an actual delete control.
Do not grade a service on the quantity of flirt in its landing-page copy. Grade it on the friction between you and the conversation you wanted: account wall, message cap, model downgrade, memory loss, or media credits. That friction is the price even when the first dollar is zero.
